Today’s Promise

Psalm 1:3

He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers.

When you delight and focus on the Word of God will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water. You will be fruitful and even during difficult times, you will flourish and stand.

This verse contains five promises from God. We are looking at a different promise each day.

God promises as you focus on His word you will be like a stable, fruitful tree planted by rivers of living water and you leaf will not wither.

What does it mean that your leaf does not wither? Trees fall into two categories, they either shed their leaves for the winter, or they are evergreen. The evergreen is not affected by the winter, the cold or the storm. When all the other trees are losing their leaves, the evergreen continues to show it still has life.

It’s easy to get discouraged. From your relationships to your career, to even your walk with God. We all face times of discouragement. Sickness, adversity, failures, and problems hit us all at one time or another, but the Christian who is grounded in the Word of God will stand and flourish even through these difficult times. When those around you are in despair, you will stand firm and even flourish.

As you hold on to the faithfulness and promise of God, you can weather the coldest winter and the darkest night, and still remain strong.

The leaf represents your testimony to the world. Leaves are evidence of life. If you see a tree without leaves, you assume the tree is dead. Even in the harshest of times, you can be like the evergreen and stand as a witness to the world of God’s goodness and faithfulness. Because you are rooted in the Word of God, you will remain steady and healthy and bring glory to God.

Review that promise again.

He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers. – Psalm 1:3

Confess this with me,

Since I put my focus and delight in God’s word,
No matter what the situation, God will preserve me.
In the darkest of winter, I will still flourish.
When everyone else is fainting, I Will be strong.
In Jesus Christ, I will not fade but will bring glory to God.

In Jesus Name,
Amen

God’s trees are evergreen; they always bring glory to God even amid difficult times.
