Today’s Promise

I Have Eternal Life

John 4:24

I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.

The greatest promise of all is the promise of eternal life. Every other promise pales in comparison to this one powerful promise.

If through faith you have given your life to Christ, you have God’s promise that you have eternal life. Eternal life doesn’t begin when you die. Eternal life begins when you come to Christ. When you became a Christian, you moved from death to life. The life Christ gave you at salvation will last for all eternity.

The mortality rate for you and me is 100%. All of us at one time or another will close our eyes in death and face eternity. How you have prepared for that event is the most important question of all.

Life is short.

The Bible describes your life like the fog from your breath on a cold winter morning. One moment it is here and the next it is gone. Compared to eternity, life is but a moment.

Christians don’t fear death.

There is a calm assurance for those who have given their hearts to Christ and made Him their Savior. You know that when you close our eyes in death, you will open them in the presence of the Lord. There is no fear of death because Christ has given you life.

There is no condemnation.

When you die, you will have to stand before God and give an account of your life. The Bible says that all of us have sinned and the wages of that sin is death. As a Christian, there is no condemnation. Your faith in Christ has provided complete forgiveness of your sin. Because your sin is forgiven, you will be welcomed into heaven by your loving father.

Let’s look at that verse once again.

I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. – John 5:24

Confess this with me.

In Jesus Christ, I have eternal life.
I do not fear death because I have the promise of God.
My sin is forgiven, and there is no condemnation for me.
When I die, I will see Jesus face to face.
I will spend eternity in heaven because Jesus promised it.

In Jesus Name,
Amen

Today, you have the assurance that because you have given your life to Christ you have eternal life, your sins are forgiven and you will spend eternity in the presence of Christ enjoying the wonders of heaven.
