Today’s Promise

Christ’s Word Dwells in Me

Colossians 3:16

Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

What does it mean for the word of Christ to dwell in you?

It means you allow the word of God to take up residence. You have allowed God’s word to become such part of your heart and mind that it is entirely at home in you. It’s the picture of a good friend who comes to your house and feels totally welcomed and relaxed.

We are not talking about just the words Jesus spoke, but all the teachings of the Bible.

You allow the word of Christ to dwell in you by first getting to know the word.

God’s primary method of speaking to you is through the Bible. The more you know the Word of God the easier He can speak to you.

You also allow the Word of Christ to dwell in your by living in complete submission to it. As you allow the word of Christ to enter into every area of your heart and mind, He brings about change in each of those areas.

As you allow the word of Christ to dwell in you, it becomes the standard of truth in your life. You will not be drawn away by false teaching or taken in by deception. God’s word will become a natural part of your thinking and speech.

As the Word of Christ dwells in you, you will develop a new level of wisdom in everything you do. You will also become a person who encourages everyone around you.

Finally, this verse says to not only allow God’s word to dwell in you but for it to dwell ‘richly.” God’s word is to dwell in you in such a way that it is abundant and overflowing in your life.

Look at that promise once again.

Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. – Colossians 3:16

Make this confession with me.

The word of Christ is at home in my heart.
I am completely yielded to the word of Christ.
The word of Christ empowers every area of my life.
I will not be taken in by false teaching or deception.
I am growing in wisdom as I allow His word to richly dwell in me.

In Jesus Name,
Amen

Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly so you can live with wisdom and encourage everyone around you.
