Today’s Promise

My Treasure Will Not Decay

Matthew 6:19-20

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.

You have a choice as to where you can invest your wealth. You can invest it here on earth, or in eternity.

Jesus was not against wealth. He never taught that wealth was a sin, or that the wealthy people were evil. He does remind us that earthly wealth is fleeting. No matter how hard you try or how much money you make, you can never take it with you.

There is nothing wrong with a retirement plan, or a savings account, but they are temporary. A stock portfolio can slide to nothing in a matter of days. Someone can rob you of your jewelry, or your company can squander your retirement plan. How many people, for one reason or another have lost their life savings?

The only investments that last forever are those made into the kingdom of God. As you invest in eternity, your investment will last forever, and they will never decay, rust, or lose value. Your heavenly investment will give a return of changed lives, restored families, and eternal souls entering the kingdom of God.

Kingdom investment is not always about money.

It can be a gift of time or talent. Whatever you invest, you can rest assured that your investment to the Kingdom of God will pay out through all eternity.

Eternal investments bring about eternal rewards.

As you invest in eternity, you have the promise that your treasure will never decay, never lose value, and never be destroyed.

Look at the promise one more time.

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. – Matthew 6:19-20

Confess this with me.

I invest my time, talent, and finances in the Kingdom of God.
I expect eternal rewards for my investment.
Earthly treasure may fade, but my heavenly treasures will last for eternity.
God uses my kingdom investments to minister and to bring others to Christ.
I am storing up heavenly treasure for all eternity.

In Jesus Name,
Amen
