Today’s Promise

God Makes a Way of Escape

1 Corinthians 10:13

No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.

Before every flight takes off, the flight attendants take a moment to point out where the location of the exit doors. Posted on the back of every hotel room door is the fire escape plan. Usually, it’s a map of how to get to the closest exit. In case of an emergency, you need to know the quickest way to escape.

God oversees every temptation that comes into your life. You can overcome every temptation because God provides a way of escape. God will never allow you to be tempted beyond your ability to resist and always provides an escape route.

An escape plan is no good unless it’s followed.

Often, the best way of escape is to simply leave. The Apostle Paul told young Timothy to flee youthful lusts (2 Timothy 2:22). When Joseph was tempted by his boss’s wife to sleep with her, Joseph ran so fast that he left his coat in her hand. That was a way of escape.

In the midst of the temptation, you must have your spiritual eyes and ears open to follow the escape plane. God’s word and Holy Spirit will point the way out of every temptation.

Look at that promise again.

No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. – 1 Corinthians 10:13

Make this confession.

I have victory over every temptation I face.
God provides a way of escape in every temptation.
Sometimes the safest way out of a temptation is to run.
The Holy Spirit will point the way out of every temptation.

In Jesus name,
Amen

In every temptation, you have the assurance that God is in control and will provide a way to victory.

I appreciate the encouraging words every day. Sometimes, they serve as my daily devotion. I wanted to bring to your attention, however, that the verse is found in FIRST Corinthians and not SECOND Corinthians. The encouragement is still valid and appreciated. God bless!

“The” way of escape is Christ Jesus Himself. As Jesus is so are we in this world. We are transformed to the likeness of Christ by the Holy Spirit. As we take the Holy Communion every day we are being transformed and healed in our mind and our body..

I am not sure if this was God’s doing, but after the incident, I can’t see any other explanation. I met a girl who became my friend a few weeks ago and I have a soft spot for people who are having a hard time. (I just have this urge to try to help them.)
This girl didn’t drive, she was “in love” with a man who left her and she keeps thinking he will come back, even though he seems to be happily engaged to another woman after he broke up with my “friend”. She has 3 children who she takes care of by herself. I would often take her to a grocery store to get groceries.
Long story short, we were eating food and she got very intimate with me suddenly and started rubbing on me and trying to touch me. The temptation was real. I was very close to going further with her but I didn’t want to, I was just very weak at the moment. Suddenly she started choking on a place of her food and I ran to grab her a bag to spit up in. I decided it was a good idea to take her home so we got in the car to go. She was still choking and spitting up the whole way to her house which was about 15 minutes from where we left. As soon as I got her home, the choking and spitting up and coughing had stopped. Luckily her mom happened to be there and by that time, she wasn’t feeling so frisky anymore. On my way home I heard a random sermon playing over my radio about how God command us to avoid sexual immorality and it suddenly hit me what had almost happened. I felt so awful like I had just dodged a bullet or like someone had pulled me from a train track just in time to keep a train from hitting me. I was so convicted and afraid but then I started getting verses about how God provides us opportunities to escape temptation, and how he uses that temptation to strengthen our faith. I felt so much relief at what didn’t happen that I fell on my knees and gave God glory for letting her choke at that particular moment. It had to be God! I felt so sanctified by that. Even though I was about to fall to that temptation (which scared me very much that I almost fell) God gave me that way out. I have since realized that I cannot provide her the help she needs and that if I continue seeing her, it will just get harder and harder. I ran and blocked her number, deleted it and blocked her on social media. I’d rather get be heart broken for a few months than end up taking back into a pit that Jesus pulled me out of. Praise God in all of his Glory. Amen!

      Michael,
I am so elated that you were delivered from disaster.
What is really the take away? I can’t help but hear in my heart, 3 children, on her own… was intimacy a way for her to hold on to what she really needed? Help, an encouraging helpful soul? As a women I can understand her need to grasp! Is it possible to take a different route out of temptation? Especially since you are now removed? Can you have a conversation with her about what happened? Can you explain your trust and faith in God? May it change her life? And yours? You are a leader, you were made that way! You like to help. Could this be your gift? Is this how you bare fruit? No solution here as I don’t know you or your situation, just food for thought in your journey forward in spreading the gospel for Jesus!

      God Bless,
      Linda
