Today’s Promise

I Have Peace With God

Romans 5:1

You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.

Peace.

It’s a hard thing to come by these days. From political uncertainty to the rise of depression and anxiety, it seems the entire world is suffering from a lack of peace.

Peace in the world and peace in our heart begins with peace with God. When Jesus was born in the manger, the angels declared, “Peace on earth, good will toward men.” The source of all peace is the Lord Jesus Himself.

It’s interesting that as we have removed God from our schools, universities, and our country; suicide, depression, and anxiety are all on the rise. According to the CDC, suicide is up 33% since 1999. When you have no peace with God, you have no peace within yourself.

The problem with peace is our sin. Sin puts us at odds with God. There is no peace with God as long as there is sin. I have never talked with a person who didn’t admit they were a sinner. We all know we have done things wrong. That’s why Jesus came and died on the cross. He paid the penalty for your sin. Without Christ, you have to deal with your own sin. You try excusing it, or ignoring it, but no matter what you do, there is still that feeling of guilt and shame.

When you came to Christ, your sin was justified. A preacher friend used to say “justified means just-as-if-I’d never sinned.” Now you have peace with God. That peace flows over into every area of your life. In John 14:27, Jesus promised His supernatural peace to those who followed Him. You have peace with your past because Jesus had forgiven your sin. You have peace with your failures because God doesn’t hold your sin against you.

You can face each day, knowing that you have peace with God.

If you are struggling today, remember, through faith in Christ, you have peace with God, and the promise of peace is every area of your life.

Look at that promise again.

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. – Romans 5:1

Make this confession

Through faith in Christ, I have peace with God.
My sin has been paid through the blood of Jesus.
Since I have peace with God, I have peace with my past.
The peace of Christ flows into every area of my life.

In Jesus name,
Amen
