Today’s Promise

I Give Thanks for Everything

1 Thessalonians 5:18

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

If you are like me, today, I’m celebrating Thanksgiving with my family. Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to review all the blessings God has poured out on our life. You can be thankful for friends, family, health, and prosperity.

No matter what your situation, there are things you can be thankful for. Compared to other places and people in the world, you are extremely blessed by God.

But, Thanksgiving should be more than a one-day event.

Thanksgiving should be a lifestyle. God calls you to a life of thankfulness. Spend a few moments every day, thanking God for the blessings you receive.

When you walk in thankfulness, you confess that God is the source of all you have. When you are thankful, you humble yourself because you confess that it’s not all about you. A thankful heart is a humble heart. The proud person will never be a thankful person.

Giving thanks in all circumstances is not giving thanks for all circumstances.

It’s hard to be thankful for a flat tire, a bad doctor’s report, or a difficult marriage.

You can, however, give thanks in those situations because you know God is in control of your life. You can be thankful that He is working for your good, and that He will never forsake you. You can be thankful for what God is going to do in this challenging situation.

Thankfulness is an attitude.

It is confessing that all you have and all you are comes from the Lord. Giving thanks is a confession that God is good, and He takes care of His children.

Look at that promise again.

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. – 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Make this confession.

I thank God for pouring out His blessings on me.
Every day I will spend a few moments expressing thankfulness.
God is the source of all I need.
I thank God in every situation because I know He is working for my good.

In Jesus name,
Amen

Today, you can be thankful because you know God is working in your life as your protector and provider.
