Today’s Promise

I Fear No Evil

Psalm 23:4

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Psalm 23 is one of the most well known and favorite passages in the Old Testament.

It’s often recited at funerals, but this Psalm has far more to say about living than it does about dying. Have you ever felt like you were walking through the valley of the shadow of death? Maybe you are in the valley right now?

God has never promised you immunity from difficult times. You will face the shadow of the valley at one time or another.

God has promised to be with you and to protect you when you face your darkest days.

The valley of the shadow of death means anything that causes you to fear. It may include death but can also include anything that brings fear into your life.

Living in fear is confessing that God cannot or will not take care of you. Satan is the father of fear. He whispers fear into your ear, hoping to bring doubt on the goodness of God.

Because the Lord is your shepherd, you never have to live in fear.

You never need to fear Satan or his kingdom. Satan was defeated on the cross and has no power of authority over you.

You never have to face an attack of Satan alone, because your Good Shepherd is with you and will fight your battle for you. You can rest in his protection.

Like the shepherd who uses his rod and staff to protect his flock, God uses His power and might to protect you.

You need never fear evil, or the evil one because God is with you even in the valley of the shadow.

Look at that promise once again.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. – Psalm 23:4

Make this confession.

I fear no evil.
God is protecting me from every attack of Satan.
When walking through my darkest times, God is with me.
I don’t walk in fear; I walk in faith.

In Jesus name,
Amen
