Today’s Promise

Christmas Promises

The Wise Still Seek Him

Matthew 2:1-2

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.”.

Every day until Christmas, we are looking at the promises of Christmas and seeing what we can learn from them today.

At the birth of Jesus, wise and learned men show up on the scene, asking where the King of the Jews was born. They didn’t ask if the messiah had been born, but where the King of the Jews was born. It’s amazing that the Jewish religious leaders, who knew the scriptures better than anyone else completely missed Jesus’ birth.

The wise men had traveled, hundreds of miles seeking Jesus.

They knew if they followed the promised star, they would find promised One. Although Jesus came to the Jews, some of the first people who saw Him weren’t Jews, but Gentiles. This is a perfect example of how the Savior came for all people.

The good news of the Gospel is for everyone.

From the lowly shepherd to the wise men from afar, those who seek after Jesus, find Him.

Jesus invites you and me to seek after Him with all our hearts. He promises that when we seek Him, we will find Him. (Matthew 6:33,7:7)

The wise men sought out Jesus. The wise men and women of today still seek with all they are. They know that when they seek Him, they will find Him. When they find Him, they will bow and worship Him as Savior and Lord.

Look at the promise again.

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.” – Matthew 2:1-2

Only as you seek to follow Christ, can you find true peace and fulfillment.

Make this confession.

Jesus came as the Savior to all people.
I am seeking Christ with all my heart.
When I seek Him, I find Him.
The wise person seeks after Christ and finds peace and fulfillment.

In Jesus name,
Amen
