Today’s Promise
God Hides Me in His Secret Place
Psalm 27:5
For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; in the secret place of His tent He will hide me; He will lift me up on a rock.
The Presence of God
The secret to King David’s public confidence was his private walk with God. He understood that God was protecting and keeping Him.
David had a profound and intimate fellowship with God. The verses before this promise describe David’s desire to live in the presence of the Lord.
In the Old Testament, when a guest was in your home, you were responsible for their protection and provision. Even though it might only be a tent, it became a safe refuge. Your host would lay down his life to make sure you were protected from any attack.
Safety in God’s Presence
The tabernacle of God is the dwelling place of God. At that time, it was just a tent, but David knew there was safety in the presence of God.
He knew his enemies could not touch him because God would give him victory.
Hidden by God
David came away from his personal time of worship with a confidence that he was standing on a rock-solid foundation and that God was his protection. He knew that God would hide him in such a way that his enemies could never find him.
When you walk in the presence of the Lord, you walk in His protection and provision. God hides you away so that no enemy can reach you.
He will hide and protect you in His presence. You can rest in His presence, knowing He is in control.
When your “day of trouble” comes, know that God will be your hiding place. If you are going through a difficult time today, spend some extra time in worship and prayer. Enter into His presence and know that He is with you and will safely hide you away.
Look at that verse again.
For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; in the secret place of His tent He will hide me; He will lift me up on a rock. – Psalm 27:5
When the world is sinking all around you, you can be confident that God has placed you on His solid foundation.
Confess this with me,
- When troubles come, I know God will protect me.
- He will hide me in His presence.
- He will keep me from the enemy and provide for my every need.
- He is my hiding place.

When you build your life around a personal walk with God, when trouble strikes, He will protect and hide you in Him. He will place us on a strong foundation.
