Today’s Promise

God Leads Me to Quiet Places

Psalm 23:2

He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.

A Quiet Place of Rest

With everything going on these past few months, many of our stress levels have gone through the roof. Yet, as the Good Shepherd, God promises a quiet place where we can rest under His watchful care.

This promise is part of one of the most well-known passages of scripture. Although it’s often read at funerals, this psalm is really a psalm for living. Psalms 23 describes God as our shepherd and we as His sheep.

We Are His Sheep

The Bible often describes us as sheep. But, unfortunately, sheep aren’t the smartest of animals. Sheep are very fearful. They are easily spooked and completely defenseless. They need a caring shepherd to watch over them, provide for them, and keep them safe.

The only time sheep will lie down is when they are completely safe and satisfied. Fearful or hungry sheep will never lie down. Even the sound of a running stream can keep a sheep from resting. Only those who have confidence in their shepherd and are well fed can relax and rest.

God is watching over you today. He is leading you to a place of rest and renewal. You can rest in the quiet, warm, and green pastures of His presence. You can drink from the unlimited stream of the Holy Spirit. In His presence, you can find rest and satisfaction.

Shepherds and Sheep

Sheep have a relationship with their shepherd. Shepherds lead sheep. The sheep know their shepherd’s voice and trust him. Sheep follow the shepherd’s leading. God won’t force you to follow Him; He won’t force you to rest in Him. Instead, you must willingly follow Him to your place of rest and peace.

No matter how hectic your day or how much stress you may be under, you can always retreat to the green pastures and calm waters the Lord provides. When you follow Your good shepherd, you find a profound sense of rest and peace in Him. By following the Good Shepherd, you will find greater satisfaction and fulfillment amid the chaos around you. Today, He is leading you to your quiet place of rest in Him.

Look at that promise again.

He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. – Psalm 23:2

Make these confessions.

  • My Great Shepherd is watching over me today.
  • He is leading me to a place of rest and provision.
  • I trust Him to care for and protect me.
  • He is providing for my every need today.
  • He is leading me to quiet places amidst the chaos of life.

In Jesus Name,
Amen

Today, allow the great shepherd to take you to a place of peace and rest. No matter what you are facing, God promises rest.
