Today’s Promise

He is Faithful

Lamentations 3:23

The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.

God’s Faithfulness

Every morning God gives you a new start. Each day represents a new beginning of God’s grace, compassion, and lovingkindness in your life.

This promise came during a difficult time in the life of Jeremiah and the people of God. After a long period of lament, Jeremiah remembers the faithfulness of God.

The word “lovingkindness” used in this promise means God’s commitment love.

I wish I could say my life was one straight trajectory to spiritual maturity. I wish I could say my walk with God is once constant “Hallelujah!” But like everyone else, I have days when I fail, fall, and sin.

Love and Grace

This verse is a reminder that you will never deplete God’s love and grace toward you. Every day God’s love for you is renewed and replenished.

No matter who you are or what you have done, you will never deplete the love God has for you. You will not push God so far that He will break his promise to you. His steadfast love and mercy will always be with you.

As I look back at my life, I see a God whose patience and love for me have been without end. Just like Jeremiah, I have to declare, “Great is Thy Faithfulness!”

Great is Thy Faithfulness

Many of us know this promise from the hymn, “Great is Thy Faithfulness.” Thomas Chrisholm, a Methodist minister, wrote this hymn almost 100 years ago.

In a letter written late in his life, he wrote, “I must not fail to record here the unfailing faithfulness of a covenant-keeping God and that He has given me many wonderful displays of His providing care, for which I am filled with astonishing gratefulness.

All of us could join Thomas in confessing how good and faithful God has been to us.

Great is Thy Faithfulness,
Great is Thy Faithfulness.
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided.
Great is thy Faithfulness, Lord unto me.

If you are discouraged today, this one thought can overcome despair, “God is faithful.”

Look at that promise again.

The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. – Lamentations 3:23

Make these confessions.

  • I can never deplete the love of God.
  • His love for me is renewed every morning.
  • God is faithful, even when I am not.
  • Thank you, God, for your great faithfulness to me.

In Jesus Name,
Amen

Every morning is a new beginning of God’s faithfulness to you.
