Today’s Promise

I Will Have an Eternal Body

2 Corinthians 5:1

For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

You’re Getting Older

If you looked in the mirror this morning, you probably noticed that you are getting older. You may not want to admit it, but your body is aging and will eventually fail you.

Try as you may, your body is doomed. No matter many gym memberships you have or how many supplements you take, the human race’s mortality rate is 100%. Unless Jesus comes before, you will face death.

That’s an encouraging way to begin the week, but I have some good news.

A Eternal Body

The good news is that though your body will wear out and die for the Christian, a new and eternal body will replace it.  We don’t know all the details, but we do know your new body will never experience pain, never experience hunger, loneliness, or tears. God has prepared an eternal body just for you.

You will no longer worry about being too tall or too short, too fat, too skinny, or the thousand other things. Your new body will be a perfect fit for your spirit.

God has handcrafted your eternal body just for you.

This Body is Temporary

Your current body is just a temporal container for who you really are. Your body may last 60,70,80, or even 90 years. But your new body will never grow old, never decay, and will last for all eternity.

You can rejoice today because even though your earthly body is fading away, you have a new and eternal body waiting for you when you die.

Let’s Review that promise one more time.

For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. – 2 Corinthians 5:1

Confess this with me.

  • My body is aging and will one day fail me.
  • In Jesus Christ, I have a new, eternal body.
  • When I pass from this life into eternity,
  • I will receive a new and eternal body handmade by God.

In Jesus Name,
Amen

Death is not final. When you close your eyes in death, you will open them in a new body, in the presence of God for all eternity.

If your earthly body is cremated do you still get a new eternal body.

Yes. Every natural body will decay. The bodies of those who died 1,000 year ago will have turned to dust. Those who have burned to death, those lost at sea will all receive a new body. If you are in Christ, you will receive a new body.
