Today’s Promise

I Will Rejoice

Psalm 118:24

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Every Day is a Gift

Every new day is a gift from God. When you opened your eyes this morning, you received the gift of another 24 hours. God gave you this day for His glory and your good.

It is no accident that you are alive and breathing today. God has given you another today to walk with Him, love others, and be used for His glory. Though we often overlook it, life is the greatest gift of all.

The Psalmist encourages us to rejoice and celebrate each new day God gives us. It is a reminder that where you place your focus greatly affects your attitude. You choose to rejoice or complain. You can be glad or sad. You can be thankful or thankless.

Focus on the Blessings

If you focus on God’s blessings and His work in your life, your heart will be filled with joy. If you focus on your problems and the world’s problems, you’ll be filled with worry and fear.

Some people lose their joy because they spend too much time watching the news. They start off their day taking on the problems of the world.

When you focus on thankfulness and all God has done for you, you see the blessings, not the problems. There is an old hymn that says, “Count your many blessings, name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord has done.” This is more than positive thinking; it is the confidence that God is in control and working for your good.

Choose to Rejoice

When you make the conscious decision to rejoice, you see God’s blessings all around you. The word rejoice shows up over 200 times in the Bible. God’s Word is a joy-filled book.

No matter what you are going through today, you can find something to rejoice over. The more you focus on that blessing, the more joy will overflow your life.

How you begin your day makes a big difference in how you experience the rest of your day. When you start your day with a bad attitude, it’s hard to shake it off. When you start the day with the choice to rejoice, gladness and thanksgiving follow you the rest of your day.

Today, make a choice to rejoice. Let’s be glad for the blessings God has placed in our lives.

Look at that verse again.

This is the day which the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it. – Psalm 118:24

Make these confessions.

  • Today is a blessing from God; I will rejoice in His gift to me.
  • I will focus on the blessings God has brought into my life.
  • I will be thankful and not complain.
  • Today, I make a choice to rejoice.

In Jesus name,
Amen

You can rejoice because God has given you the gift of life. When you begin your day rejoicing, it sets the stage for a blessed and thankful day.
