Trusting God Brings Blessings

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose trust is the Lord. “For he will be like a tree planted by the water, that extends its roots by a stream and will not fear when the heat comes; but its leaves will be green, and it will not be anxious in a year of drought nor cease to yield fruit.
Jeremiah 17:7-8

God promises that when you build your life on trusting the Lord, your life will be secure and fruitful, even in the most challenging and dry times of life.

When you trust in the Lord, amazing things happen.

When you trust in the Lord, amazing things happen. Trusting in the Lord is placing your complete confidence in the Lord. It is more than an intellectual agreement; it is a total abandonment to God’s will and work in your life.

The prophet describes the person who trusts in the Lord as a tree planted by a stream.

Here are four quick things about those who trust the Lord.

First, the person who trusts in the Lord has an unending source of life-giving spiritual water. In the scriptures, water is a symbol of the Holy Spirit. The person who trusts in the Lord reaches out and grabs hold of all the Lord has for them. They allow the life-giving presence of the Holy Spirit to flow through them.

Second, the person who trusts in the Lord is not afraid in the heat of the moment. They know the Lord will take care of them. While others are wilting in the summer heat, those who trust in the Lord draw refreshing water from their innermost beings.

Third, when difficult days turn into difficult times, the person who trusts in the Lord never loses hope. They have confidence that God will provide. They know from experience they can trust God. They don’t worry or fear because God is their strength.

Finally, the person who trusts in the Lord will bear fruit. Fruit is a symbol of health and productivity. A healthy tree produces fruit. The growing Christian who trusts in the Lord will produce the fruit of the spirit and will encourage everyone around them.

When difficult days turn into difficult times, Jesus will be your refreshing oasis. As you trust in the Lord, you will be a shining example of God’s power and goodness to the world.

During these days, trust in the Lord. He will strengthen and sustain you.

Look at that promise again.

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose trust is the Lord. “For he will be like a tree planted by the water, that extends its roots by a stream and will not fear when the heat comes; but its leaves will be green, and it will not be anxious in a year of drought nor cease to yield fruit. – Jeremiah 17:7-8

Make these confessions.

  • I will trust in the Lord.
  • God will refresh and sustain me no matter what I am going through.
  • When I face difficult days, I will stand firm.
  • As I trust in the Lord, the fruit of the spirit grows in me.

In Jesus’ Name.
Amen

We are all going through difficult times. As you trust in the Lord, God will sustain you and use you as an example of His goodness and care.
