You are Created in God’s Image
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
Genesis 1:27
You are Blessed!
You are not an accident; you are the handiwork of the great creator God. God created you in His image for His glory.
This promise is one of the most important and powerful promises in God’s Word. This one verse explains why human beings are so special in God’s eyes.
God created You. The God who spread the stars across the sky created you. You are not an accident. God created you with a purpose and plan in mind. An artist paints a beautiful painting for a purpose. It might be a portrait or a still life. It could be a social comment or an attempt to understand the world around him, but he creates his art with a purpose in mind. God created you for a purpose.
God created you in His image. After making all the animals in the world, the heart of God was still not satisfied. He desired to create something unique, something special, something that would reflect His image.
What does it mean to be “created in His image?”
First, it means you have eternity in your heart. You have an eternal soul that lives beyond the physical world around you.
Second, you are self-aware. You know who you are and who God is. You have a free will to love God. You are not a robot; you can choose to love or reject God.
Third, you are creative. Just like your Heavenly Father, you have a creative streak. Your creations could be a picture, a song, how you decorate your home or the business you are building, but you are creative.
Fourth, you are a reflection of Him. A piece of art is an expression of the artist. It brings glory and honor to the creator. God made you as a reflection of His glory. As a Christian, you live to bring glory to God.
Look at that promise again.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. – Genesis 1:27
Makes these confessions.
- I am created by God.
- I am made in His image.
- I may be marred by sin, but God’s image is in me.
- I am a reflection of the great, creative God.
In Jesus’ Name,
