Today’s Promise

Hope in the Lord
Be strong and let your heart take courage, all you who hope in the Lord.
Psalm 31:24
God Gives Hope
Today we are talking about the power of hope.
When you have hope, you have a future, but when you lose hope, you lose everything.
How we use the word “hope” is different from how the Bible uses it. We say, “I hope we have ice cream tonight. I hope I win the lotto or my team wins.”
We use the word hope the same way we use “wish.” The Bible uses the word hope differently.
When you hope in the Lord, you put your complete faith and trust in what God says. You know that what God has said, He will do. As you hope in the Lord, two things happen in your life.
Hope Gives You Strength
First, you are energized by hope. As you think about what the future holds, you find new energy and excitement as you place your hope in the Lord. Hope energizes the soul. Hope puts new life in your step and confidence in your posture. Hope gives you the strength to face your hardest problems and most challenging situations. When you lose hope, you slip into despair, depression, and apathy. A person without hope struggles to get out of bed in the morning. Those who put their hope in the Lord find new strength throughout the day.
Hope Gives You Courage
Hope not only gives you new strength but the courage to step out of your comfort zone. Knowing what God has promised, you can stand in faith with the courage to face almost anything. Hope empowers you to stand for the important things in life and face problems or people who would normally intimidate you. Fear fades as you hope in the Lord.
The greatest hope is the promise of eternal life. I don’t wish for eternal life. I don’t have to cross my fingers and try to keep a positive mindset. I know that because of my faith in Christ, I will spend eternity with Him when I die. It is not positive thinking but a confident faith that God will bring it to pass.
Look at this promise one more time.
Be strong and let your heart take courage, all you who hope in the Lord. – Psalm 31:24
Make these confessions.
- I put my hope in the Lord.
- God is strengthening me as I hope in Him.
- I have newfound courage through my hope in Christ.
- One day my hope will be a reality when I see Him face to face.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
I’m praying you find new strength and courage today as you place your hope in the Lord.
There is no question our schools are under attack. It seems every day, we hear of gun violence, bullying, and other dangers at our schools. Every day, our students face all sorts of temptations and challenges. That’s why I am proud to partner with the School Prayer Challenge. This little app on your phone allows you to join others in your community, praying for protection around our schools. The app lists every school in the United States. You can create a list of schools to pray for and then see how many others are praying for your schools. The goal of the School Prayer Challenge is to have people praying for every school in our nation. You can download the app for free in your app store or go to www.schoolprayerchallenge.org. Take the challenge to pray for schools across our country.
What is your hope in the Lord? (Post your answer in the comment section)
I hope the Holy Spirit will convict the people of this nation regarding sin and righteousness and judgment that we may turn to God in repentance and receive forgiveness and healing and restoration to a right relationship with God.
I have hope in the Lord one day I will meet him face to face.
