God Listens to Your Prayers

For the eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, and His ears attend to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.
1 Peter 3:12

Performance Prayer

Of all the disciplines in the Christian life, many of us struggle with prayer. It’s so easy to get caught up in the “performance” of prayer and forget that God has already promised to hear us when we pray.

It’s easy to get discouraged when it comes to prayer. Questions like, “Am I doing this right?” “Does it really make a difference?” and “Is God even listening?” Often, they flood our minds when it comes to prayer.

God Listens to You

As a child of God, you can rest assured that your loving Heavenly Father is listening when you pray. He is actively listening to your call.

The phrase “His ears attend to their prayers” is the picture of a father leaning toward his little one, eager to hear every word the child says. Have you ever considered that God is eager to hear your prayer? He not only hears your prayer but is eager to hear your prayer.

Go Hears Your Voice

Mothers have a special gift of hearing their children’s cry. No matter how many people are in the room, she can still pick out her child’s cry. Guys neither possess nor understand this gift. When our children were young, my wife could hear our daughter’s cry in a room full of 2-year-olds. She could spot our son’s call in a crowded McDonald’s playground. Your Heavenly Father has His ear tuned to your cry.

God has His ear attentive to your voice. His ear is tuned to your call. You never have to wonder if God hears your prayer. He is eager and willing to hear and answer your prayer.

Look at the promise again.

For the eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, and His ears attend to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. -1 Peter 3:12

Make these confessions.

  • As a child of God, I know God hears my prayer.
  • When I pray, He leans forward with eager anticipation.
  • I need never worry that God hears my prayers.
  • I know that when I pray, God hears, and when He hears, He answers.

In Jesus’ Name,
Amen

When you pray, God is listening. It’s not about how well you pray; it’s about your Father in heaven listening and eager to answer your prayer.

On a dark road at night I discovered a bolt missing from the support on my bike’s luggage rack, which could get caught in the spokes of my wheel. So I prayed and asked God to let me find a piece of wire on the dark highway to fix it, but I could not see, so I asked Him, “let it be where I put my hand on the ground.” Then I thanked God and put my hand down on the asphalt and there was ten inches of insulated electrical wire, perfect for fixing the loose support. I thanked God again.
