Today’s Promise

The Lord Has Helped You Thus Far
Then Samuel took a stone and set it between Mizpah and Shen, and named it Ebenezer, saying, “Thus far the Lord has helped us.”
1 Samuel 7:12
God has Helped You
When you take the time to review how God has helped you in the past, He gives you the strength to face today’s problems and worries.
This promise shows up in the middle of an interesting story in the life of the Children of God. The prophet Samuel had called the people together for a time of repentance, prayer, and worship. When the Philistines heard of their meeting, they attacked the people of God.
God brought giant claps of thunder that confused and terrified the Philistine army as the battle began. Because of God’s help, Israel won the victory. In response to God’s protection, Samuel built a monument to remind the people that God had helped them up to this point.
When your faith is weak, remember to review how God has helped you in the past. “Thus far, the Lord has helped you.” If God has helped you in the past, why would He not help you today?
A Simple Exercise
Here’s a simple exercise that will strengthen your faith. Take a moment and write down every time God has helped you in the past. Get very specific, when did He answer a prayer or bring about that special provision? When did you not know what to do, and God gave you direction? When did you feel hurt or worried, and God comforted you?
Now that you have completed your list read back through your list. Look at all the times God provided, directed, and helped you. Keep that list near you. Maybe put it in your Bible or journal. When your faith falters and your fear rises, take out that list and reread it. If God has provided for you “thus far,” why would He not continue to do so?
Look at that promise again.
Then Samuel took a stone and set it between Mizpah and Shen, and named it Ebenezer, saying, “Thus far the Lord has helped us.” – 1 Samuel 7:12
Make these confessions.
- God is my help and strength.
- So far, the Lord has helped me.
- God has helped me before and will do so again.
- When I remember His provision, my faith is renewed.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
The God you serve is faithful. When you stop and remember his work in your life, it builds your faith and trust in Him. Up until now, you have seen His provision and help. Trust Him that He will continue to stand with you today and forever.

He has helped me numerous times . Through faith and trials.👍🙏😇
One dark night while riding my bike on a country highway, I realized my carrier-rack had come loose and the support was likely to get caught in the spokes. I needed a length of wire to fix it, but it was too dark to see, so I prayed I would put my hand down precisely where such a wire would be. I put my hand down on the road and felt a piece of wire just the right length and gauge to fix my rack. As I continued on my way I traveled down a steep grade at a rapid speed and realized if I hadn’t fixed that rack, my bike might have braked suddenly and thrown me into the traffic. That wire might have saved my life. Thank You God for providing just what I needed. I still have that wire to remind me of God’s faithfulness.
