Today’s Promise
I Have a New Heart
Ezekiel 36:26-27
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. I will place My Spirit within you and cause you to follow My statutes and carefully observe My ordinances.
When you came to Christ, God gave you a new heart.
He didn’t do heart repair; He did a heart transplant. God took your old heart that was cold and hard and replaced it with a new soft heart. He filled this new heart with the Holy Spirit so you could hear His voice and obey His word.
This was the beginning point of your walk with God.
Everything in your life comes from your heart. Obviously, I’m not talking about your physical heart, but the inner heart of the soul.
Jesus said, “out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.” (Matthew 12:34) Your thoughts, attitudes, and actions all begin in your heart.
Just like your physical heart, you must take good care of your spiritual heart. Disobedience, bitterness, unforgiveness, and ignoring the voice the Lord can all make our heart cold and hard.
When your heart grows cold, the things of the Lord no longer excite you like they once did. Your passion for the Lord seems to fade, and you lose the desire to walk in obedience to Him daily.
God is always working to soften your heart and bring you back to Him.
God never gives up on you. He is working in your life to strengthen the new soft heart He gave you.
The Holy Spirit empowers your new heart with a desire to walk with God in fellowship and obedience.
Look at that promise again.
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. I will place My Spirit within you and cause you to follow My statutes and carefully observe My ordinances. – Ezekiel 36:26-27
Confess this with me.
In Jesus Christ, I have a new heart.
He took my old, hard heart and gave me a heart that loves Him.
God fills my heart with the Holy Spirit.
My new heart desires to walk in obedience and fellowship with God.
In Jesus Name,
Amen
