Today’s Promise
God Rejoices Over Me
Isaiah 62:5
For as a young man marries a young woman, so shall your sons marry you, and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you.
Over the years, I have presided over more than a few weddings.
Excitement builds as the back doors of the auditorium open, and the bride steps in. The crowd stands in her honor, and every eye is on her, except mine. I am watching the groom.
I am always amazed at the response of the groom.
As the young groom watches his bride walk down the aisle, often, he is overcome with joy. He is grinning from ear to ear. His entire focus is on the object of his affection. Time stands still as he watches his bride approach. More than once, I’ve seen a tear of joy flow down the cheek of an overwhelmed groom.
God looks at you the same way.
As part of His church, you are the bride of Christ. You are the focus of His attention. He waits in anticipation for you to be with Him throughout all eternity.
Although God loves the world, He loves you individually.
He looks at you with that same joy and pride. When you come before Him in prayer, He is overjoyed to be with you. God looks at you with the same joy, pride, and pleasure that the groom has for his bride. God is not ashamed or embarrassed by you. God’s love overflows for you.
You need never live in fear, shame, or insignificant. The God of the universe is overjoyed with you. You are his bride, and He is your groom. Rejoice today, because God rejoices over you.
Let’s look at that promise once again.
For as a young man marries a young woman, so shall your sons marry you, and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you. – Isaiah 62:5
Make this confession.
God looks at me the way a groom looks at his new bride.
God’s love for me is beyond my understanding.
I will not walk in fear, shame, or regret because God loves me.
I can rejoice today because God rejoices over me.
In Jesus name,
Amen
