Today’s Promise
I Am Reconciled With God
2 Corinthians 5:18
Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.
You Are Reconciled
This promise comes right after the powerful verse where Paul tells us we are new creatures in Christ.
You might notice the word “reconcile” in this promise. It is not a word we use a lot. It means to bring together or to change thoroughly.
It’s the picture of two enemies that have been brought back together. They move from being enemies to friends.
God has reconciled us to Himself. Because of His love, He took the first step in reconciliation. Through Jesus Christ, although we were once enemies, we are now friends of God.
More than Forgiven
Reconciliation is not just salvation. It is not only having your sin forgiven (although that would be enough), but it is a complete relationship change. So many Christians know their sins are forgiven but aren’t living in the new relationship reconciliation brings. They don’t see they have moved from being enemies of God to close friends.
He is your friend, and you are His.
Reconciliation also has to do with impartation. When Christ was on the cross, your sins were deposited on Him. When He rose from the grave, His righteousness was deposited on you. You are reconciled with God because your sin has been removed, and His righteousness is imparted to you.
The Ministry of Reconciliation
Since you are a new creature and have the righteousness of Christ in you, God calls you to a ministry of reconciliation. You are to help move your friends, neighbors, and acquaintances to be reconciled to God. The is the heart of evangelism.
As you mature in your walk with God, you grow more and more like Christ. The more you are like Christ, the more you have a heart for reconciling others to God. You really can’t be walking in the power of Christ and not have a desire for those around you to become friends of God.
Look at that promise again.
Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation. – 2 Corinthians 5:18
Make these confessions.
- I am reconciled with Christ.
- My sins are forgiven and removed.
- His righteousness has been imparted to me.
- God has given me the ministry of bringing others into a relationship with Him.
In Jesus name,
Amen
As a new creation, who is now a friend with God, you have the opportunity to point others to the love of Christ. You have the ministry of reconciling others to God.
