True Worship
As a Christian, you have a unique ability to worship God. Only you can worship Him in spirit and truth. No other creature can praise and worship the Lord like you.
The trees of the field and even the stars in the sky bring praise and glory to God. The angels and all creation worship God, but as a follower of Christ, you bring a special type of worship that God seeks.
Jesus said to please God with real worship, we must worship Him in spirit and truth.
Real worship is spirit-based.
Jesus said real worship begins in the spirit. Religion is all about the activity of worship. Many people confuse religious rituals with God-pleasing worship. True worship is more spiritual than it is physical. True worship is all about the heart. God-pleasing worship isn’t about the music or if you raise your hands. It isn’t about the style, the posture, or even the volume. God-pleasing worship is the grateful heart of the believer expressing thankfulness to the loving heavenly Father. Spirit-based worship is all about worshiping from the heart.
Real worship is based on truth.
Honesty is the beginning point of God-pleasing worship. It’s not about performance or ritual but heartfelt expressions of praise. God doesn’t care about how well you sing or even if you can carry a tune. He is never impressed with our ability to worship. He is more interested in our honesty in worship.
A person with an ungrateful or bitter heart will never be a true worshiper. Before you can truly worship, your heart must be clean and honest before Him. Truthful worship must come from a sincere and thankful heart. There is never a place for pretense or ego when it comes to true worship.
God loves it when His children come to Him in thankful praise and worship.
Look at this promise once again.
But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. – John 4:23
Make these confessions.
- I worship God in spirit and truth.
- I gratefully express my thanks and praise to Him.
- My worship must begin in my heart.
- God loves it when I worship him in honesty, from a pure heart.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
What type of worshiper are you? Today, spend some time worshipping and thanking the Lord for all His blessings. Don’t worry about how to worship or if you are doing it right. Just focus on lifting your praise and thanksgiving from a genuine, thankful heart. That is the worship that pleases the Father.
The most important thing you can do for your pastor is to pray for him. The past two years have been extremely difficult for pastors. How do you worship the Lord? Is it in spirit and truth? (Share your thought in the comment section.)
Though I worship The Lord in spirit and truth, at times, it becomes so ritualistic and repetitive. I pray to The Almighty to give me a pure and Thankful heart.
