Today’s Promise

Trust God and Don’t be Afraid
Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and He has become my salvation.
Isaiah 12:2
Since God is your salvation, you never have to live in fear. He gives you strength in the midst of a fearful world.
Trust God
This promise begins with the word “behold.” We don’t use that word much these days, but in the Old Testament, it was used to express the wonder of a new experience. If we were to use today’s language for this verse, it would sound something like this. “Look! Can you believe this? God is my salvation. I trust Him, so I’m not afraid.”
We live in a fearful world. Every day our screens are filled with images and news that fill us with fear and dread. From global warming to threats of terrorism, our phones and televisions are a constant source of bad news. If you are not careful, fear can take root in your heart.
Live Above Fear
As a Christian, you can live above fear. Your God is your salvation, so there is no place for fear. If God is on your side, what could you possibly fear?
Fear is the opposite of faith. You can’t walk in fear and walk in faith – the greater your fear, the less your faith. However, the opposite is also true — the greater your faith, the less your fear. The more you trust in God as your salvation, the less you struggle with fear. If fear has taken hold of your heart today, take some time, and remember the blessings God has brought to your life and the greatness of the God you serve.
Jesus is Salvation
Notice the prophet doesn’t say God will bring salvation. He says God is my salvation. Salvation isn’t a religious practice, a program, or even a way of thinking. Salvation is the person of Jesus Christ. Salvation is not just heaven when you die, but a relationship with Christ here and now.
Jesus is your salvation. He is with you right now. He is your strength, and He is all you need. When you know Jesus is your salvation, you can sing for joy as the world around you shivers in fear.
Let’s look at that promise again.
Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and He has become my salvation. – Isaiah 12:2
Make these confessions.
- I will not fear because God is my salvation.
- The more I trust in Him, the less I live in fear.
- Jesus is my salvation.
- All I need, I find in Him.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
Remember, to overcome fear, focus on building your faith.
