Today’s Promise
1 John 1:7
But if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
Everyone struggles with sin.
From the newest Christian to the oldest saint; sin is something we all wrestle with.
When Jesus died on the cross, He carried your sin with him. When you came to Christ through faith, every sin you have ever committed was forgiven.
Forgiveness is how God dealt with your sin. Sin requires payment. That payment is death. Jesus death on the cross made payment for your sin. The wall that separated you and God was removed.
Not only have you been forgiven, but you have been cleansed of your sin.
So many Christians have a hard time accepting God’s forgiveness. They carry needless guilt and shame. They can’t seem to shake their identity with their sin. They see themselves more as a sinner than as a saint. I heard a preacher once ask, “Are you a sinner, trying to live like a Christian, or are you Christian who sometimes falls into sin?”
Imagine a large blackboard with every sin you have ever committed listed. No one would want to see that list or let anyone see it. It is a reminder of your shame, failure, and wickedness. Now imagine God taking an eraser and wiping the board clean. Not one sin is left; every sin was erased. This is cleansing; removing your sin and your identification with it.
Look at that verse once more,
But if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. – 1 John 1:7 (NASB)
God has not only forgiven your sin; he has cleansed you. He has washed you with the blood of Jesus and removed your sin and stain.
Make this confession.
In Jesus Christ, my sin is forgiven.
God has cleansed me from all my shame, guilt and pain of my sin.
I am clean and pure before Him.
I no longer identify with my sin, but with my righteousness in Christ
When I sin, God forgives me and cleanses my heart.
In Jesus Name,
Amen
God not only forgave your sin, but God cleansed your heart. Your debt is paid, and your sin erased. Now go and live like it!
Thanks for being with me on the Daily Promise.
We have all sinned and come short of the glory of the Lord. But when Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins our sins we’re washed away. We are all sinners saved by grace. Thank you Jesus!
Amen, David
I am so forgivin and now live in the newness of Christ Jesus. Every day I can walk with a new perspective on life which is why I accept myself and others.. And when I fall I can get back on my feet knowing Jesus is right there to help me back up.
Father I am so thankful for the finished work of the cross and life everlasting you have not condemned us but cleansed us from all unrighteousness.
God I am your’s to do with as your will desires. Amen
