Today’s Promise
I Am a Temple of God
1 Corinthians 3:16
Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
Let that promise sink in for a moment.
You are a temple of God. God’s presence dwells in you.
As a follower of Christ, the Holy Spirit has taken up residence in your heart.
Imagine, the spirit of God lives in you.
Wherever you go, whatever you do, God’s spirit is there with you.
In the Old Testament God dwelt in the temple of Jerusalem. The temple was an icon of God’s presence. Inside the temple was a special place called the Holy of Holies. In this chamber, the presence of God was made manifest. This room was so holy that even the High Priest could only enter once a year. Even then, he entered with fear and trembling. However, now God’s Spirit dwells in the hearts of believers.
Jesus promised when He left, He would send the Holy Spirit of God to dwell in those who followed Him. God’s presence would move from the temple to the hearts of Christians like you.
The temple was the symbol of God’s presence in the nation of Israel.
It was a reminder that God was with them. The Holy Spirit in you is a reminder that God is with you.
The temple was also a place of worship. People gathered to lift up praise to the Lord. As His temple, you are a house of Worship. Every aspect of your life should bring glory and honor to Christ.
The temple was a place of God’s manifest presence. God’s presence rested or abided in the temple. As his temple, you bring God’s presence into every situation of life. Wherever you go, God’s presence goes with you.
Let’s review that promise again.
Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? – 1 Corinthians 3:15
Confess this with me.
I am the temple of God.
God’s Spirit dwells in me.
Wherever I go, I bring the presence of God with me.
I represent the presence of God to the world around me.
My life brings glory and honor to God in all I do.
In Jesus Name,
Amen

I thoroughly enjoy getting and reading The Daily Promise. It has really helped me in my walk with the Lord. Occasionally I find mistakes in some of your sentences where words are used incorrectly. Example from today’s “Promise.” In the sentence just before “Let’s review that promise again” you stated: “Wherever you God, God’s presence goes with you.” I think you meant to say, “Wherever you go.” I’ve found similar statements where words are incorrectly used. It might be helpful to avoid these mistakes if someone other than your self proof read your Daily Promise before sending it. Just a suggestion. Don’t misunderstand me. I really look forward to reading your Daily Promise each day. When I read your “promise” I have to re-read it sometimes when the statement you make is confusing.
Richard,
Thanks so much for your comments. And yes, mistakes make it through far more often than I wish. Right now, the ministry is a one-man operation. I write, record, edit, and maintain the website. (plus a thousand other things). If you have ever proofed your own writing, you know what a challenge it is. I am praying we will have the funds in 2020 to bring or contract an editor for the material. Until then, I’ll try to be a little more careful in proofing the copy.
Glad to hear it is a blessing to you. Pray for me, the ministry, and the resources to improve the program.
