Today’s Promise
The Word of Christ Dwells in Me
Colossians 3:16
Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
What does it mean for the word of Christ to dwell in you?
It means you allow God’s Word to take up residence. You have allowed God’s word to become such part of your heart and mind that it is entirely at home in you. It’s the picture of a good friend who comes to your house and feels completely welcomed and relaxed.
You allow the word of Christ to dwell in you by getting to know the Bible. God’s primary method of speaking to you is through the Bible. The more you know the Bible, the easier He can speak to you.
You also allow the Word of Christ to dwell in you by living in obedience to it.
The more you obey the Word of God, the more your heart is open to His voice. As you obey the Word of God, your mind, heart, and attitude are molded into the likeness of Christ.
As you allow the word of Christ to dwell in you, it becomes the standard of truth in your life. You will not be drawn away by false teaching or taken in by deception. God’s word will guard you as it becomes a natural part of your thinking and speech.
As the Word of Christ dwells in you, you will develop a new level of wisdom in everything you do. God’s wisdom will become a part of you. You will become a person who’s wisdom encourages everyone around you.
Finally, this verse says to not only allow the Word of Christ to dwell in you but for it to dwell ‘richly.” God’s word is to dwell in you in such a way that it is abundant and overflowing in your life.
Look at that promise once again.

Make this confession with me.
The word of Christ is at home in my heart.
I am completely yielded to the word of Christ.
The word of Christ empowers every area of my life.
I will not be taken in by false teaching or deception.
I am growing in wisdom as I allow His word to dwell in me richly.
In Jesus Name,
Amen
Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly so you can live with wisdom and encourage everyone around you.
