Today’s Promise

Give Thanks to the Lord for He is Good

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
Psalm 107:1

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving! (If you are in the USA) I pray you have a wonderful day reviewing all the blessings God has brought into your life.

Thanksgiving begins with thankfulness. God’s people are thankful people. We recognize that we are not the source of what we have. It is God’s goodness and grace that provides all we need.

Hopefully, you are anticipating a time of thanksgiving with friends or family. I hope you will take some time to be truly thankful during your celebration.

Thankful?

Your first thought may be, “Hey, what do I have to be thankful for?” No matter what your situation, you can be thankful. If you live in the United States or other developed countries, even on your worst day, you are better than most of the world.

It is so easy to focus on what you don’t have and forget all the wonderful blessings you do have. If you can turn on your faucet and fill a glass with clean water, you are better off than 1/3 of the world’s population.

  • If you own a car (no matter how old), you are more prosperous than 91% of the world.
  • If you make more than $2.50 a day, around $75 a month, 1/2 of the people in the world wish they were as blessed as you.
  • If you survived the Covid-19 pandemic, you are better off than the 6.3 million people who have died from it.

I want to remind you that you are blessed. Sure, things may not be perfect, but they could be much worse. You can be thankful today. Just that you are listening or reading this post means you have a computer or phone, internet access, and electricity to keep them charged.

The One Message

If there is one message I hope you receive from The Daily Promise is that God is good. His goodness flows over you daily. He is your provision, your protection, and your Father.

“For He is good” appears seven times in the Old Testament. Each time it is proceeded by “Give thanks to the Lord.” Thankfulness is our response to God’s goodness.

“For His lovingkindness is everlasting” means that God has a committed love for you that will never change. Even when you are disobedient or wander away from His presence, He still watches over you.

Because God is good, and because His commitment love for you is forever, you can be thankful.

Look at that promise again.

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, For His lovingkindness is everlasting. – Psalm 107:1

Make these confessions.

  • Thank you, Father, for your goodness and care for me.
  • Thank you for blessing me in ways I easily forget.
  • Thank you that your love is never-ending.
  • Thank you for the salvation I have in Jesus Christ.

In Jesus’ name.
Amen

Take a moment and list all the things you can be thankful for today. I recently saw a post that read, “what if you woke up today with only the things you thanked God for yesterday?” We can all be more thankful.

Let me say thank you to you for listening and reading The Daily Promise. I am so blessed to share the promises of God with you every day. I hope each day is an encouragement to you and a reminder of God’s goodness and promise.

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and I’ll look forward to being with you tomorrow as we look at another promise in God’s Word.
