Today’s Promise

Go to God in Confidence

Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
Hebrews 4:16

You Are Invited

Today, you received an invitation. Jesus delivered it, and it requests your presence before the King of Glory.

This promise invites you to come before God with confidence. Where many come to God with fear and trembling, you can come boldly into His presence.

Confidence

The word “confidence” here means the ability to speak freely. You can come before God and speak freely about the problems, hurts, and challenges you face.

You don’t have to pray using fancy words or pious phrases. You don’t have to try and impress God with religious terms. Many people feel they need to sound spiritual when they pray, but God is not impressed with spiritual-sounding words or religious jargon. He invites you to come before Him like a child sitting on their father’s lap.

You can freely share the most personal needs of your heart. You can tell God things you would never tell, even your closest friend.

Come to God With Confidence

You come to God at the throne of grace, not the throne of judgment. There is no fear of condemnation, only the confidence that you will find mercy and help.

Mercy is about your past. Mercy is not receiving what you deserve. Through the blood of Christ, mercy covers your past failures and sins. Jesus is mindful and sympathetic to your weaknesses. His mercy brings forgiveness to your past.

Whereas mercy is about your past, help is about your future. When you come to God, you find help for the problems, struggles, and pain you face today.

In your time of greatest need, or your lowest point of failure, you have an invitation to come freely before God’s throne of grace.

Look at that promise one more time.

Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. – Hebrews 4:16

Make these confessions.

  • God invites me to come to Him with confidence.
  • I come before the throne of grace, not the throne of judgment.
  • I find mercy and help when I come to Him in prayer.
  • At His feet, I find grace, mercy, and help.

In Jesus’ Name,
Amen

If you haven’t spent time with the Lord today, why not stop right here and come before Him in prayer? When you do, there is no need for fear. There is no judgment before Him. At His feet, you will find mercy for your past and help for your future.

God’s invitation to come before His throne of grace gives me confidence to pray to Him for mercy, grace and help. Even though I don’t always know what to pray for, I know He cares and will respond to provide help.
