Today’s Promise

God Gave Me a New Heart

Ezekiel 36:26-27

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. I will place My Spirit within you and cause you to follow My statutes and carefully observe My ordinances.

A New Heart

When you came to Christ, God gave you a new heart. He didn’t repair your old heart. He gave you a new one. God took your old heart that was cold and hard and replaced it with a new soft heart. He filled this new heart with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit empowered you to hear His voice and obey His word.

This was the beginning of your walk with God. Everything in your life begins in your heart. Obviously, I’m not talking about your physical heart but the inner heart of your soul.

In Matthew 12:4, Jesus said, “out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.” Your thoughts, attitudes, and actions all begin in your heart.

Heart Trouble

Just like your physical heart, you must take good care of your spiritual heart. Disobedience, bitterness, and unforgiveness, can all cause spiritual heart trouble. Ignoring the voice of the Lord can make your heart cold, hard, and insensitive to God.

When your heart grows cold, the things of the Lord no longer excite you as they once did. Your passion for the Lord fades, and you lose the desire to walk in obedience and fellowship with Him.

God is always working to soften your heart and bring you back to Him. God never gives up on you. He is always working to strengthen the new spiritual heart He gave you.

The Holy Spirit empowers your new heart with a desire to walk with God in fellowship and obedience.

Look at that promise again.

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. I will place My Spirit within you and cause you to follow My statutes and carefully observe My ordinances. – Ezekiel 36:26-27

Confess this with me.

  • In Jesus Christ, I have a new heart.
  • Jesus took my old, hard heart and gave me a new heart in Him.
  • God fills my heart with the Holy Spirit.
  • My new heart desires to walk in obedience and fellowship with God.

In Jesus Name,
Amen

If your heart has grown cold and insensitive to the voice of the Lord, God wants to revive and refresh your heart. Spend time with Him today and listen for His voice. He will soften your heart through the power and presence of the Holy Spirit.

If you have been affected by the major storm that destroyed power and other services in Texas and other areas in the country, please know I am praying for you.

Jesus please grant the precious person whom I pray for the grace to cooperate with you in making their heart a soft, loving and honest heart like yours. Show them their worldliness for what it is. Show them the harm they are doing themselves. I pray the same prayer for myself this Lent. Thank you for always hearing our prayers. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

Perfect summary of how God creates someone new in Christ by giving them a new heart and by the gift of His Spirit, I was studying Matthew 15:19.

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation.”

Well, I sure agree I need a new heart. In myself I am so ugly! I am so pathetic! But like you said: :God gave us a new heart. Even though I don’t see it or feel it. I believe He has. I hold fast the profession of my faith. He is faithful who promised. Heb. 10:23
So my only hope is God will make my new heart a reality, by His Spirit.
It says our hope is not in vain, because He has poured out His love in us by the Holy Spirit! Rom. 5:8. I believe it is all mine in Christ Jesus.
The Holy Spirit has been given to me! And I believe even now God’s love is poured in me! In my new heart to live a wholesome life. So be it! Amen!
