God Gives You Good Gifts

If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
Matthew 7:11

Your Good Father

Your God is a good father. Like every father, He wants the best for His children. As a good father, He is your provider and protector.

Jesus described God as our Heavenly Father. When we pray, it’s like talking to our daddy. Like a good earthly father, your Heavenly Father gives good gifts to His children.

So many Christians have a poor understanding of their Heavenly Father. As a father of three, I have learned much about giving to my children.

First, I love giving gifts to my kids. It brings joy to my heart to see them happy. I want to provide them with everything they need to grow, mature, and be successful. God loves to bless His children.

Second, I don’t always give them what they want. Sometimes, what they ask for isn’t what is best for them. Sometimes, God’s greatest blessing is not giving us what we ask. He knows our needs before we even ask, and He always gives what is best for us.

Third, I want the best for my children. I always looked for ways to motivate and encourage them. Never forget God wants the best for you. In Jeremiah 29:11, God told the prophet He had good plans for Him.

Fourth, I expect my children to ask. When my children were young, everything they had came from me. I was their only supply. If they wanted something, I expected them to ask me. God is your source, and He expects you to ask for your daily needs.

Finally, I was always ready to help. Even as grown children, I want to help them in any way I can. One of my daughters lives 360 miles away. If she called today and needed help, I would be in the car before the conversation ended.

If you and I want to bless our children this much, how much more does our heavenly Father want to bless us? An earthly father has his limits. Your Heavenly Father has unlimited resources. Your earthly father makes mistakes and sometimes messes things up, but your Heavenly Father is perfect in all His ways.

I understand you may not have grown up under a good father. Don’t allow his poor example to influence how you see your Heavenly Father. Your Heavenly Father is a good father who loves you more than you can imagine.

Look at that promise again.

If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! – Matthew 7:11

Make these confessions.

  • My Heavenly Father is a good father.
  • He desires to give me good gifts.
  • He invites me to call on Him with my needs, desires, and concerns.
  • My Heavenly Father is always looking for ways to bless me.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen

Your prayer life will be transformed when you become convinced that God is a good father and wants to bless you.
