Today’s Promise
April 10, 2024
God Has Chosen You
You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain.
John 15:16
God Chose You
God’s incredible love for you goes beyond your imagination. He has chosen you for His very own.
It’s a little hard to wrap your head around this, but the God of the universe chose you. He spoke to your heart and drew you to Himself. Before the world even began, God chose you to be His child.
Now before you go all theological on me, set aside all the implications and arguments you may have heard about predestination and man’s free will. Honestly, after all these years in ministry, I still struggle with bringing them together. It’s easy to get sidetracked and miss the beauty of this incredible promise.
God’s Perfect Love
For just a moment, focus on this wonderful picture of God’s perfect love for you. God chose you to be His child. You had nothing of value to offer God. You were no better than anyone else. The Bible says that on your very best day, your very best works are like filthy rags before Him. (Isaiah 64:6) There was absolutely no reason for God to choose you, but He did. He chose you and called you to be His child.
Imagine a couple walking into an orphanage with the desire to adopt a new member into their family. For some reason, they are drawn to a particular little girl. This child has nothing to offer them, nothing to justify becoming a new member of their family. These new parents may have traveled a great distance and at an even greater cost just to see the child. This little baby will cost them hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years. However, they choose that little girl because they desire to love her. They see in her what she can’t see in herself. Their love, not her worthiness, brings her into this new family.
Adopted by God
One day God looked down and saw you. You were filthy, defeated, and a captive to your sinful desires. You had no hope, no future, and no spiritual family. His love reached out and touched you. He chose you for His own. The Holy Spirit began working in your heart until by faith, you came to Him. Now you are His child, His son or daughter, and part of the family of God.
Look at that promise again.
You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain. โ John 15:16
Make these confessions.
- Before I even knew Him, God chose me.
- I had nothing to offer Him.
- It was His incredible love that reached out to me.
- I am His child today because of His incredible love.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
God loved you so much that He chose you to be His own. If you can grasp just a little of this promise, it will transform your life.
