Today’s Promise
God Leads Me to Quiet Places
Psalm 23:2
He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.
God Brings Peace
With all that’s going on in the world today, most of our stress levels have gone through the roof. As the Good Shepherd, God leads you to a quiet place of rest. He brings safety and security into your life.
This promise is part of one of the most well-known passages of scripture. Although it’s often read at funerals, this psalm really a psalm for living. Psalms 23 describes God as our shepherd and His tender care for us.
The Bible often describes us as sheep.
Sheep aren’t the smartest of animals. Sheep are very fearful animals. They are easily spooked and completely defenseless. They need a caring shepherd to watch over them, provide for them, and keep them safe.
The only time sheep lie down is when they are safe and satisfied. Hungry sheep never lie down. Fearful sheet won’t lie down. Even the sound of a running stream can keep a sheep from resting. Only those who have confidence in their shepherd and are well fed can relax and lie down.
God is watching over you today. He is leading you to a place of rest and renewal. You can rest in the quiet, warm, and green pastures of His presence. You can drink from the unlimited stream of the Holy Spirit. In His presence, you can find rest and satisfaction.
Shepherds lead sheep.
The sheep know the voice of their shepherd and trust him. The sheep must follow the shepherd where he is leading. God won’t force you to follow Him; He won’t force you to rest in Him. You must willingly follow Him to the place of rest and peace He has for you.
No matter how hectic your day is or how much stress you may be under, you can always retreat to the green pastures and calm waters the Lord provides. When you follow Your good shepherd, you find a more profound sense of rest and peace in Him. You will find greater satisfaction and fulfillment amid the chaos around you. Today, He is leading you to quiet places of rest.
Look at that promise again.
He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. – Psalm 23:2
