God Loves to Hear Your Prayers
The sacrifice of the wicked is detestable to the Lord, but the prayer of the upright is His delight.
Proverbs 15:8
God Loves to Hear Your Prayers
Did you know God delights in your prayers? He is excited for you to come into His presence.
So many Christians are reluctant to come to God in prayer. They feel unworthy to lift their voice and may even think, “Surely God has more to do with His time than to listen to my prayers.”
They don’t realize that God actually delights in their prayer. Did you know that God loves it when you spend time with Him in prayer?
This promise describes two different types of people.
Just Religion
The first are those who practice religion, but their hearts are not the Lord’s. They go through all the motions of faith, but nothing is behind it. They may even make a big deal of their faith and pray spiritual-sounding prayers.
However, God finds their prayers disgusting. He knows it’s all just talk.
A Right and Humble Heart
The second type of person is one who comes before God in prayer with an honest and humble heart that is right before Him. God listens and is delighted to hear their prayers.
You don’t have to be perfect or have “arrived” at a certain spiritual level for God to delight in your prayer. The “upright” are those who live in a right relationship with God. Through Christ, you have been made “right” with God. Jesus’s sacrifice and your faith have opened the door to God’s presence.
God Listens
When you pray, God listens. He not only listens, but he is delighted to hear your prayers.
A grandfather takes great delight when his grandchild climbs up in his lap. He is ready to listen to anything his grandchild says. God is like that grandfather. He invites you to climb up in His lap and tell Him what is on your heart.
God delights in hearing you today. He wants you to come before Him bringing your needs, prayers, and concerns.
Look at that promise again.
The sacrifice of the wicked is detestable to the Lord, but the prayer of the upright is His delight. – Proverbs 15:8
Make these confessions.
- God is delighted when I pray.
- He takes great joy in my prayer.
- I will not come to Him in fear or shame.
- He invites me to sit before Him and share my heart.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
As a follower of Christ, God delights in your prayer. There is nothing to fear when coming into His presence. He loves for you to bring your prayer requests to Him. Take some time today to tell your Heavenly Father what is on your heart.
