Today’s Promise

God Promises a New Heaven and Earth

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first Earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea.
Revelation 21:1

A New Heaven and Earth…

Many Christians avoid reading the book of Revelation. Some think the book is too complicated or confusing, and some are frightened by the judgments described in the book.

However, the book of Revelation paints a wonderful picture of the end times. It tells how God judges the world for its sin, how Satan is defeated, and how we will spend eternity in His presence.

Toward the end of the book, the Apostle John sees the new heaven and Earth God has created for His children. Pain, suffering, and tears are all removed. Satan and his kingdom are defeated, judged, and cast into eternal punishment. God will open the book of life, and whoever’s name is not found in the book is thrown into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:15)

The Kingdom of God

God’s kingdom remains victorious. His enemies are defeated, and the only thing that remains is the Kingdom of God on Earth. As God reveals the new heaven and new Earth, He declares that He makes all things new.

God renews and restores the Earth to a greater glory than even the garden of Eden. God will burn away the effects of sin and reveal a new heaven and Earth.

Imagine…

Imagine what it will be like to live in the Kingdom of God on the new Earth? Imagine what a sunset will look like on the renewed Earth? Imagine spending eternity in the presence of God living on the new Earth? Imagine your excitement as you discover your new, eternal body. A body that will never grow old, never get sick, and will never experience pain. Imagine the celebrations that will go on.

I love what John Eldredge says in his book, All Things New. “No wonder joy is the constant mood of the kingdom!”

You will have all eternity to explore this new Earth and heaven.

Eternal life is not sitting on a cloud playing the harp. Your hope in Christ is living on a new earth and a new heaven, experiencing all the beautiful things God has prepared for you. How can your heart not explode with joy and anticipation!

Look at that promise again.

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first Earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. – Revelation 21:1

Make these confessions.

  • One day, I will see the new heaven and Earth God has made.
  • One day, God will remove all my pain and wipe every tear away.
  • One day, I will enjoy a new, eternal body made to live on the new Earth God has created.
  • One day, I will live in the constant joy of God’s presence.

In Jesus name,
Amen

One day, God will reveal a new heaven and Earth specifically created for His kingdom and those who have put their faith in Him. By the way, it’s going to be amazing!
