Today’s Promise

God Rejoices Over You

And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you.
Isaiah 62:5

God Rejoices
How does God see you? How do you see yourself before God? Today’s promise gives us an incredible insight into how God sees us.

Over the years, I have presided over more than a few weddings. Excitement builds as the back doors of the chapel open, and in steps the bride. The crowd stands in her honor, and every eye is on her except mine. I am watching the groom.

I am always amazed at the response of the groom. As the young groom watches his bride walk down the aisle, he is often overcome with joy. He is grinning from ear to ear. His entire focus is on the object of his affection. Time stands still as he watches his bride approach. More than once, I’ve seen a tear of joy flow down the cheek of an overwhelmed groom.

The Bride of Christ
God looks at you the same way. As part of His church, you are the bride of Christ. You are the focus of His attention. He waits in anticipation for you to be with Him throughout all eternity.

God Rejoices Over You
Although God loves the world, He loves you individually. When you come before Him in prayer, He is overjoyed to be with you. Jesus looks at you with the same joy, pride, and pleasure the groom has for his bride. God is not ashamed or embarrassed by you. God’s love for you overflows.

You never have to live in fear, shame, or feel insignificant. The God of the universe is overjoyed with you. You are the bride of Christ, and He is your groom. Rejoice today because He rejoices over you.

Let’s look at that promise once again.

And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you. – Isaiah 62:5

Make these confessions.

  • God sees at me the way a groom sees his new bride.
  • God’s love for me is beyond my ability to understand.
  • I will not walk in fear, shame, or regret because God loves me.
  • I can rejoice today because God rejoices over me.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen

As the bride of Christ, Jesus look at you with joyful anticipation. He rejoices over you over. You are the focus of His attention and love.
