Today’s Promise

God Will Lift You Up When You Fall

The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way; though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand.
Psalm 37:23-24

When You Fall

When you fall, God promises to pick you up. Your failures don’t have to be permanent. Even when you fall, God is there holding your hand, ready to help you stand.

Have you ever had a dream where you felt like you were falling? Have you ever had one of those days when you felt like you just couldn’t get up?

Falling is Part of Life

Falling and failure are part of life. Most of us have or will have a great fall. It may be financial, relational, or even moral, but falls and failures are familiar to us all.

I love that this verse says, “though he fall.” It assumes that a fall will come. We can take great comfort in knowing that our failures and falls aren’t unique to us.

Just as a father sometimes expects his little child to fall, God knows what you are made of and that you will occasionally stumble and fall. He knows you don’t always pay attention and can step into a hole.

God Picks You Up

The good news is that when you fall, it’s not the end. For the Christian, there never has to be a fatal fall. You can survive, get back up, and keep going. Why? Because God has you by the hand. He is ready to pull you back up and get you going again.

Remember that windswept night when Peter stepped out of the boat and walked on water to Jesus? He experienced epic success and epic failure, all within a few moments. After a short walk on top of the water, his faith faltered, and he began to sink. Instead of scolding Peter for his lack of faith, Jesus simply reached down and lifted him out of the water. Together, they walked on waves back to the boat.

That’s what Jesus is ready to do for you. If you have fallen, don’t stay down. If you have stumbled and messed up your life, allow Jesus to reach down and pick you up. Your fall doesn’t have to be fatal because Jesus has you by the hand.

Look at that promise again.

The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way; though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand. – Psalm 37:23-24

Make these Confessions.

  • Failure and falling are part of life.
  • When I fall, I will not stay down.
  • My failure doesn’t have to be fatal.
  • Today, Jesus has me by the hand.

In Jesus’ Name,
Amen

At one time or another, you will experience a fall or failure. When you do, reach out to Jesus and let Him lift up. Don’t let Satan keep you down. Remember, Jesus holds your hand.

Thank you to everyone who has been praying for me the last few days. You are such a blessing! Keep it up. I need your prayer, and Satan is doing everything he can to keep me from sharing the promises of God. Speaking of prayer.

Once, when a relationship failed, I prayed and asked God why, and His answer to me was, “Because you are in charge of your life,” I asked God, “So you can do better?” What a silly question. I said, “I get it. OK, from now on, You’re in charge.” He set me on a better path.
