Today’s Promise
Greater is He that is in Me
1 John 4:4
You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.
Satan may be working in the world around you, but today’s promise is a reminder that the Holy Spirit in you is greater than the powers of darkness around you.
Two Kingdoms
You may not see it or even notice it, but two kingdoms are operating all around you. These two kingdoms influence the destiny of nations and the hearts of men. These two kingdoms are the Kingdom of God and the kingdom of darkness. The Kingdom of God is focused on the redemption of men and women from sin and bringing them into an intimate fellowship with God. The kingdom of darkness is focused on deception, death, and destruction.
Prince of This World
The Bible calls Satan the “Prince of this World.” Since the fall in the garden of Eden, Satan has been operating and ruling the nations of this world. False teaching and false prophets are all part of the kingdom of darkness. Deception is the rule of trade in Satan’s kingdom. Every day people are led astray by these false teachers.
As a follower of Christ, you can stand strong against Satan’s deception and lies by the power of the Holy Spirit dwelling within us.
Overcomer
When Jesus died on the cross and rose from the grave, he overcame the Prince of this World and the kingdom of darkness. He promised the Holy Spirit to all those who would come to Him in faith.
The Holy Spirit who dwells in you is greater than the spirit of this world. The kingdom of darkness can never stand against the power of Christ dwelling in you. You don’t have to fear the work of the Devil or his kingdom because the power of Christ in you has defeated them. Christ in you is greater than the kingdom of darkness and the spirit of this world.
Look at that verse again.
You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. – 1 John 4:4
Make these confessions.
- The Spirit of Christ dwells in me.
- I will not be fooled by the false teachers of the day.
- I will not fall to Satan’s temptations.
- The Holy Spirit in me is greater than the kingdom of darkness around me.
