Today’s Promise

His Resurrection Gives Me Life

1 Peter 2:24

Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and He said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day.

Happy Easter Weekend!

The resurrection of Jesus changed everything. He has conquered death and offers us new life here and eternal life when we die.

Easter is the most important day in the church calendar. This year, we face an interesting time as churches across the country won’t be meeting together physically for Easter. I know for me, it’s the first time I can remember not being at church on Easter.

However, that doesn’t mean the church won’t be celebrating Easter. Churches across the country have taken their services online. This pandemic will not hold back the church of Christ from celebrating this most important day.

The Resurrection

Easter is all about the resurrection of Christ. The resurrection sets Christianity apart from all other religions. You can go the grave of many other religious leaders, but when you go to Jesus’ tomb, you will find it empty. He is not there, He is risen!

Jesus overcame death and the grave when after three days in the tomb. He rose again. He proved that He was the Messiah when He stepped out of the tomb that first Easter so long ago. Without the resurrection, Jesus was just another good teacher or martyr.

Because Jesus overcame death, He can offer life to you and me.

Because of the resurrection, we do not fear death. Because Jesus rose from the dead, we know we will be raised to spend eternity with Him.

Why not take a few minutes today to celebrate and thank God for the resurrection of Christ. Celebrate that because of the resurrection; you have new life in Christ.

Look at that promise again.

Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and He said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day. – Luke 24:45-46

Make these confessions after me.

  • After three days in the grave, Jesus rose from the dead.
  • Because Jesus overcame death, I do not fear the grave.
  • Because Jesus rose from the dead, He offers eternal life to me.
  • Father, thank you for the resurrection of Christ.

In Jesus name,
Amen
