Today’s Promise

I Am New in Christ
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
2 Corinthians 5:17
New in Christ
As a new person in Christ, you have Christ living in you and are no longer bound to your past life. You are a brand-new person in Christ.
Amazing things happened when you came to Christ. Yes, God forgave your sin, and yes, He secured your place in heaven, but that is just the beginning. Paul says that those who are “in Christ” (one of his favorite ways of describing the Christian) are new creatures.
You are not the same person you were before you came to Christ. It doesn’t matter what your past was like, what you did, thought or how you acted. That person is no longer around. That person is dead and gone.
God made you new.
In Christ, your old life has passed away. Your desire to please yourself and rebel against God is gone. The Spirit of Christ has replaced them. Now you live the resurrected life with Christ.
So many Christians carry the baggage from their past. They don’t understand that their past is gone, and it no longer has power or influence over them. As a new person in Christ, you have Christ living in you and free from your past life.
The word “new” here means something completely different and significantly better than what existed before. In Christ, you are new and significantly better than you were before you came to Christ. You are a new creature.
Today we celebrate that new life we have in Christ.
Let’s review that promise again.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. – 2 Corinthians 5:17
Make these confessions.
- In Jesus Christ, I am a new person.
- My past doesn’t matter, my sin is forgiven, and Jesus dwells in me.
- My old life died when I gave my life to Jesus.
- I live as a new person, free from my past failures and shame.
- In Jesus Christ, I am a new creature, empowered with a new life in Christ.
In Jesus’ Name
Amen
Today, walk in the new life Christ has given you. Forget about the past and live in new life you have in Christ.
