Today’s Promise
I Am Under Grace, Not the Law
For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
Romans 6:14
The Good News
The good news of the Gospel is that sin no longer has control of your life. Jesus’s blood paid the price for sin and broke the power of sin over you.
Before you came to Christ, sin was your master. You were in bondage to temptation and a slave to its call.
When you came to Christ, everything changed. Sin is no longer your master. God’s grace has set you free from the law of sin and death.
The Law Brings Condemnation
The law always leads to condemnation. You can never be “good enough” to please God through the law. The standard of the law was perfection, and none of us are perfect. So many Christians claim grace but still live under the law. They live in self-condemnation and shame. They forget the power of God’s grace in their lives.
Grace Brings Victory
Because of God’s grace, you have victory over sin. Before you came to Christ, sin reigned over your heart and life. Now, you have complete freedom in Christ.
The law was given to help control our old nature. Grace came along and replaced that old nature with a new nature empowered and transformed by the Holy Spirit. Where your old nature was under the law, your new nature is under grace. Your new nature wants to please God and walk in fellowship with Him.
The law demands obedience and reveals your sin. Grace provides the will and the power to live in obedience and fellowship with Christ.
Freedom From Sin
The goal of grace is not freedom to sin but freedom from sin. Grace gives you the power to live above sin. You may fall into sin, but by God’s grace, you leave it behind to walk in fellowship with Christ.
As a follower of Christ, don’t allow sin to control you; walk in the freedom and power grace provides.
Look at that promise again.
