Today’s Promise

I Give Eternal Life

1 John 5:13

These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.

The Great Promise

The greatest promise of all is knowing you have eternal life.

With all the advancements in technology and medicine, the mortality rate is still 100%. Every person will one day close their eyes for a final time and face eternity.

For those without Christ, there is no hope.

Ask one hundred people on the street that if they were to die today, would they go to heaven, the majority will say, “I hope so.”

Trusting God

For the Christian, there is no “hoping” for heaven. If you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ for your salvation, you can know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you have eternal life. Faith is not hoping for heaven; it is trusting what God has promised, He will do.

The most famous verse in the Bible, John 3:16, says that Jesus came into the world so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.

As a Christian, you can know you have eternal life because God has promised it in His word; the Bible.

No fear of Death

Christians don’t fear death. They celebrate the fact that when they close their eyes in death, they open them in the presence of God to spend eternity with Him.

Eternal life doesn’t begin when you die; it begins the moment you give your heart to Christ. God has promised you eternal life with Him. You can stand on that promise because the Word of God backs it.

Look at that promise again.

These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. – 1 John 5:13

Make these confessions.

  • Through faith in Jesus Christ, I have eternal life.
  • I will spend eternity in the presence of God.
  • I know I have eternal life because I have put my faith in Christ.
  • When doubts come, I have God’s Word to remind me of His promise of eternal life.

In Jesus name
Amen

Eternal life is not for those who try hard, live a good life, or hope they make it. Only those who placed their faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior will spend eternity with Him in heaven.
