Today’s Promise

I Have Victory Over Temptation

1 Corinthians 10:13

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

God Promises Victory

When it comes to temptation, you are not out on your own. God promises victory over every temptation that comes your way. When Christ died on the cross, He ended sin’s power over you and empowered you to overcome every temptation Satan throws your way.

This verse contains three promises when it comes to temptation.

First, everyone is tempted. It is easy to feel like you are the only one who faces temptation, but everyone is tempted. You never get to a place in your Christian life where you are no longer tempted. From the pastor to the new Christian, we all face temptation. You are no different than anyone else.

Second, God limits the temptations that come into your life. Your faithful Father will not allow you to face a temptation you can’t overcome through Christ. Your Heavenly Father has approved every temptation that comes into your life, and He knows you can overcome it.

Third, every temptation comes with a way of escape. God not only limits your temptation, but He also provides a way to overcome every temptation. Just as the flight attendant points out the exit doors on your flight, God makes a way of escape for every temptation you face.

God has provided everything you need to overcome every temptation that comes into your life. As His child, you can walk in victory over temptation.

Let review this promise one more time:

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. – 1 Corinthians 10:13

Confess this with me today:

  • My temptations are no different than anyone else’s.
  • God limits what temptations come into my life.
  • God always provides a way to escape from every temptation.
  • In Jesus Christ, I have victory over every temptation.

In Jesus Name,
Amen

This past Christmas my sister got me a shirt that says it all? this is what it said: I am a Christian, I’m not perfect I make mistakes I mess up but God’s grace is bigger than my sins.”
With the pandemic and living alone and not being able to be with friends and family I was feeling a little down and also it was also the time of the year that I had lost my daughter 33 years ago. When my sister stop by to Exchange gifts I told her I was feeling pretty down. She said she was feeling pretty down her self because it was one year ago she lost her husband of 45 years.
I opened my gift and there was the shirt and I read it and I wore it and I have it hanging up in my living room and I sent a picture of it to others and it was a blessing to them as it was a blessing to me.
My sister told me later that she saw that shirt and she thought of me. That shirt completely turned my sadness into peace and was a blessing sent from God and I just wanted to share that with you?

David I like what your shirt says too. Sometimes when problems seem overwhelming, I remember: Greater Is He Than The Hurt In Me.
Allowing my mind to dwell on how awesome and mighty and glorious and powerful and gentle and loving and patient our God is, brings the troubles of this world into perspective and gives me peace.
Thanks for sharing your story David.
