Today’s Promise
I Overflow With Hope
Romans 15:13
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
We All Need Hope
Hope is a powerful emotion. When you lose hope, you lose everything, but when hope abounds, amazing things happen.
Although this prayer was for the church in Rome, we can claim it for ourselves. God is the only source of true hope.
You Had No Hope
Before you came to Christ, you had no hope. Death was feared, the future was uncertain, and you lived life by your own ingenuity.
When you came to Christ, Jesus filled you with hope. Now you have hope for the future, hope in eternity, and hope of God’s help for day-to-day living.
We use the word “hope” a lot. Our children hope we have ice cream tonight, and a person buys a lotto ticket hoping to win it big.
Biblical hope is not just emotional well-wishing. Biblical hope is the confidence that God will fulfill what He has promised.
The Source of Hope
Your source of overflowing hope is the Holy Spirit within you. God gives you hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
As your hope grows, joy and peace become evident in your life.
Joy is the inner gladness regardless of your situation. You can be full of joy even though you may be going through a difficult time. God fills your heart with gladness as you place your hope in Him.
Peace is the inner contentment of your heart. As a Christian, you understand that God is working things together for your good. You can be at peace because you know God is on your side.
This prayer is for hope, joy, and peace to abound or overflow in your life. You have all the hope, joy, and peace you will ever need.
You are filled with hope today because your eternity is secure, God loves you, and the Holy Spirit is in you.
Let’s look at that promise again.
