Today’s Promise

I Produce the Fruit of the Spirit
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23
The Fruit of the Holy Spirit
God promises the fruit of the Holy Spirit to those who live in obedience and submission to Him.
As we read through this promise, there is no doubt we could all use a little more peace, patience, joy, and love. Who doesn’t want more kindness and self-control?
Controlled by the Holy Spirit
As you live filled and empowered by the Holy Spirit, God promises these qualities will become evident in your life. They are the natural result of a life controlled by the Holy Spirit.
Through discipline and diligence, you may be able to add some of these qualities to your life, but it’s tough to work on being more joyful.
How many times have you commented, “I need to be more patient,” or “I need to worry less.” Have you ever become impatient with your lack of progress in becoming more patient? I know I have.
The Evidence of the Holy Spirit
The good news is that these qualities naturally flow from a life filled with the Holy Spirit. As you walk in the power of the Holy Spirit, love, joy, peace, and all the other fruits become more and more evident in your life.
When these fruits are not evident, they indicate that you may not be walking in the Spirit. The Fruit of the Spirit can become a gauge of your walk with God.
Are you struggling with peace? Maybe that area hasn’t been turned over to the Lord.
Are you impatient with the world around you? It might be a good time to check your submission to the Lord.
Have you lost your love and concern for others? Maybe you need to step back and ask the Holy Spirit to fill you.
God wants each of these spiritual fruits to be growing in your life. As you allow the Holy Spirit to fill you and walk in obedience to Him, you have the promise that the fruit of the Spirit will grow in your life.
Look at that promise one more time.
