Today’s Promise

Jesus Gives Water to our Thirsty Souls
For I will pour out water on the thirsty land and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out My Spirit on your offspring and My blessing on your descendants.
Isaiah 44:3
When the cares of this world have made your hearts dry and thirsty, you have the promise of God’s refreshing Holy Spirit.
Are You Thirsty?
Have you ever been really thirsty? Have you ever been so thirsty you would give anything for a cool drink of water? When I was in High School, I worked in construction. I worked Saturdays and during the summer in the hot Texas sun. Texas summers can be brutal. Working outside in 100-degree-plus days drains your body of moisture. To say you get thirsty is an understatement. I still remember how wonderful a cold drink of water felt on those dry and dusty days. It was the best water I had ever tasted.
There is another thirst that goes beyond hot summer days: the thirst of the soul. When you are spiritually thirsty, your heart and spirit have dried up, and no physical water can quench that thirst.
We all Face Dry Times
We all face times of spiritual drought. It may be because we have wandered off in our walk with God. It may be because of sin in our lives, or it may be that other stresses and problems have drained our souls and left our hearts dry and weary.
During those dry and weary days, God promises to pour the refreshing water of the Holy Spirit on us. We don’t have to live in spiritual dryness. God promises the refreshing Holy Spirit.
When God pours out the Holy Spirit, He comes like rain on a summer day. His presence is a cup of cold water for the soul.
God’s Refreshing Holy Spirit
God gives the refreshing Holy Spirit to all who ask. Since God has already promised the water of His Spirit, you can claim it by faith. When you pray, you know you are asking right in line with His will.
No matter how dry your heart may be today, God wants to refresh you with the Holy Spirit. He promises to bring the water of His presence to the dry ground of your soul.
This verse also promises that God will pour out his presence abundantly. In my part of Texas, we tend to get the entire month’s and sometimes the entire summer’s rainfall in one day. The dry ground overflows with the amount of rain that falls. Like overflowing water on dry land, there will be more of the Spirit than you can absorb. His spirit will overflow in your life to the world around you.
Look at that promise again.
For I will pour out water on the thirsty land and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out My Spirit on your offspring and My blessing on your descendants. – Isaiah 44:3
Make these confessions.
- God pours out spiritual water on my thirsty soul.
- The Holy Spirit refreshes my heart.
- My heart overflows with the Holy Spirit.
- When my life is dry, I call on the Lord for refreshment.
In Jesus’ Name
Amen
There is no reason to walk around spiritually thirsty. Call out to the one who promises spiritual water in the dry and dusty desert.
