Today’s Promise

Jesus Knows My Weakness

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.
Hebrews 4:15

He Knows our Weakness

Though Jesus was all of God and all of man wrapped up in one person, He experienced all the daily struggles and temptations we do but remained without sin.

The Bible describes Jesus as our great high priest. In the Old Testament, the high priest stood between God and the people of God. Once a year he would enter the holy of holies in the temple. There he would sprinkle the blood of a sacrificed lamb on the mercy seat. The sprinkled blood would cover the sins of the people.

Your Heavenly High Priest

The Bible describes Jesus as both the high priest and the Lamb that was slain. He stands before God and intercedes for you and me. His blood was the sacrifice needed for the forgiveness of our sins.

You might think that this great and heavenly high priest would be out of touch with the problems, difficulties, and temptations you and I face. However, this promise reminds us that because Jesus faced every temptation you and I face, He understands our struggles, weaknesses, and temptations.

It’s a little hard to wrap your mind around Jesus being tempted with lust, frustration, anger, or bitterness, but He was just as human as you and me. He faced the problems of daily life like every one of us. Remember, He ran a carpenter shop until He was thirty years old. I’m sure had to deal with people who didn’t pay their bill, complained about His service, and all the other things a business owner has to face.

Jesus Was Tempted

Jesus was tempted, just like you and me, yet He remained without sin. Because He has literally walked in our shoes, he understands the difficulties and problems we face. He knows our weaknesses and how easy it is to fall to temptation.

You can draw near to God because Jesus knows all about your struggles. He knows your weaknesses and your temptations. He understands how hard things can be at times. He knows what you are facing and is ready to strengthen and empower you.

Jesus doesn’t look down on your weakness. He understands and welcomes you into His presence.

Look at that promise again.

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. – Hebrews 4:15

Make these confessions.

  • Jesus is my great high priest.
  • He faced every temptation I face and yet was without sin.
  • He understands my weaknesses and how hard life can be.
  • Jesus welcomes me into His presence.

In Jesus name,
Amen

Understanding that Jesus faced every temptation you face, removes the fear of coming to Him when you are tempted or give in to temptation. He understands your weakness.
