Today’s Promise
My Faith Pleases God
Hebrews 11:6
And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.
The Christian life is a life of faith.
The only way to please the Lord is to live by faith. No matter what you do or how hard you try to live the Christian life, it simply won’t work if it’s not lived in faith.
Chapter 11 of Hebrews is often called the faith chapter. The word “faith” shows us ten times in the first 13 verses. This chapter lists many of the great heroes of the Bible; they were all men and women of faith.
Faith is trusting that God will do what He has said He would do.
This verse gives us two aspects of faith.
Faith begins with our belief that God exists.
You can’t put your faith and trust in someone you don’t believe exists.
The second criteria is that God is the rewarder of those who seek Him.
If God just exists and never interacts with His creation, then what does it matter? However, if God rewards those who seek Him with all their heart, then everything changes. God promises that those who seek Him are rewarded with heaven when they die, and abundant life in the here and now.
The first step of faith is putting your trust in Jesus as your Savior and Lord. The next step of faith is seeking Him with all you are. After that, it’s a matter of trusting Him in your daily decisions of life. God will test and grow your faith. There will be times when you must trust God as never before. Remember, during those times, God rewards those who seek Him and live by faith.
Without faith, you stand alone, trusting in your strength and wisdom.
When you live by faith, you walk in the favor and blessing of God, in fellowship with Him, and your life is pleasing to the Lord.
Look at that promise again.
And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. – Hebrews 11:6
Make this Confession.
- I live by faith, trusting in what God has said and promised.
- I am committed to seeking the Lord with all I am.
- God will reward my seeking Him by revealing Himself to me.
- My faith in God is pleasing to Him.
In Jesus Name,
Amen
