Today’s Promise
My Name is Written in Heaven
Luke 10:20
Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.
Written in Heaven
The disciples had just returned from a mission trip where they saw many people healed and delivered. As they celebrated what happened, Jesus reminded them that seeing God use them was great, but the real blessing was knowing their names were written in heaven.
Jesus said the most important thing in this life is knowing where you will spend the next life. Compared to eternity, this life is just a vapor. Like the fog coming from your breath on a cold morning, it only lasts an instant.
If you have placed your faith in Christ, your name is written in heaven.
Confirmed Reservation
A few years ago, my wife and I were checking into a hotel late at night. The couple before us asked the front desk clerk if there were any rooms. The desk clerk said, “I am sorry. We are all full.” Tammy and I looked at each other, wondering what would happen next. As the couple stepped away, I said, “Hi, my name is Billy Taylor, and I have a confirmed reservation.” The clerk smiled and said, “Yes, Mister Taylor, your room is ready.”
You can rejoice today because your reservation in heaven has been confirmed.
Through your faith in Christ, you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that when you close your eyes in death, you will open them in God’s presence in heaven.
No Fear of Death
You don’t have to fear death. Christ has made place for you in heaven. We don’t know all the details, but we know it will be in God’s presence. There will be no pain or death, and every tear will be wiped away. You will experience unconditional love, acceptance, and wholeness like never before.
You can celebrate all the beautiful blessings God has poured out on you. You can praise Him for your friends, family, and a thousand other things. But the greatest blessing is knowing your name is written in heaven. Your reservation has been confirmed by the Holy Spirit. When you close your eyes in death, you will enter heaven for all eternity.
Look at that promise again.
Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven. – Luke 10:20
Make these confessions.
- My name is written in heaven.
- I will spend eternity in the presence of God.
- Nothing can separate me from my eternal home.
- I do not fear death because I know where I will spend eternity.
In Jesus name,
Amen
