Saturday Review
This Week’s Promises
Matthew 2:1-2 | Isaiah 9:6 | Matthew 1:23 | Isaiah 7:14 | John 3:16
Saturday is review day on The Daily Promise. Every Saturday, we review the promises we learned during the week so we can allow them to go deep into our hearts.
Monday – Seek Jesus
We began the week seeing that as the ancient wise men sought after Jesus, wise people today seek Him as well.
The good news of the Gospel is for everyone. From the lowly shepherd to the wise men from afar, those who seek after Jesus find Him.
Here’s the promise.
Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him. – Matthew 2:1-2
Make these confessions.
- Jesus came as the Savior to all people.
- I am seeking Christ with all my heart.
- When I seek Him, I find Him.
- When I find Christ, I find peace and fulfillment.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
When you seek Christ, you find all the Savior has for you. In Him, you find true peace and fulfillment.
Tuesday – Wonderful Counselor
On Tuesday, we celebrated the promise that Jesus is our wonderful counselor. He gives wisdom when we ask, comfort when needed, and counsel when we don’t know what to do next.
Here’s the promise.
For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on His shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. – Isaiah 9:6
Make these confessions.
- As the Wonderful Counselor, Jesus reigns with supernatural power and authority.
- As the Wonderful Counselor, Jesus brings wisdom and direction to my life.
- As the Wonderful Counselor, all nations will bow before Him.
- As the Wonderful Counselor, He is ready to bring comfort and peace to my hurting heart.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
As the Wonderful Counselor, Jesus has the answer to every problem you face. He promises wisdom and guidance to all who call on Him.
Wednesday – Born of a Virgin
Midway through the week, we talked about the promise that Jesus was born of a virgin. The promise of the virgin birth is central to the Christian faith. It confirmed Jesus’ deity and broke the chain of sin.
Here’s the promise.
Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us). – Matthew 1:23
Make these confessions.
- Jesus was the Savior, born of a virgin.
- He broke the chain of sin that Adam began.
- Jesus had an earthly mother but a Heavenly Father.
- I find peace, forgiveness, and eternal life in Him.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
The virgin birth sets Jesus apart from all other religious leaders. He was more than a good teacher or an enlightened spiritual leader. He was the messiah who would save us from our sin.
Thursday – Call Him Immanuel
On Thursday, we claimed the promise that God is with us. One of the names of Jesus is Immanuel. Immanuel literally means God is with us. The creator God took on flesh and bone and walked among us. He knows our struggle and pain.
Here’s the promise.
Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel. – Isaiah 7:14
Make these confessions.
- Immanuel, God is with us.
- Since Jesus walked among us, He knows the struggles I face.
- Because God is with me, I am never alone.
- Because God is with me, He is only a prayer away.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
God is not an impersonal deity disconnected from His creation. He walked among us. He knows our pain and struggles. When Jesus was born the manger, God’s spirit moved from the Tabernacle to walking among us, to living in our hearts.
Friday – God’s Greatest Christmas Promise
We ended the week with the greatest promise of all. Of all the promises of God, John 3:16 is the most well-known and the greatest.
God loved us so much that He gave us His only son.
No matter who you are, what you’ve done, or where you find yourself. Let me remind you today that God loves you.
Here’s the promise.
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. – John 3:16
Make these confessions.
- I am loved by God.
- His love for me is more than I can comprehend.
- God will never stop loving me.
- Because He loves me, He sent His Son.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
The greatest promise of all is the promise of God’s love. His love sent Jesus to be born of a manger, die for our sins, and bridge the gap between God and us. This is the promise of Christmas.
That’s it for this week. I hope these promises have been a blessing to you. Go back through these promises and allow God to renew your mind with these truths from His Word. Share one of these promises with a friend or family member. Everyone can use an encouraging word from God’s Word.
